Malathi T. Krishnaswamy
About Malathi
Hi,
I am Malathi T. Krishnaswamy. I am an Engineer Entrepreneur, a
Motivational Speaker & Podcaster. I am married and have 2 grown up
children. I studied Engineering at the University of Madras and started
my professional career as a Technical Marketing Engineer. After working
for a couple of years, I took a break from active professional work to
take care of my children. I also started my Entrepreneurial journey when
my first child was about a year and a half. After I moved to Germany in
2002, I took a long break and in 2009, started freelancing for a couple
of years as an English Language Trainer. It was in 2013 that I founded
my own Firm in Germany and have been working as the Managing Director. I
provide Technology and Engineering Services to small and micro
companies.
Last year, I started another venture - bhogya.online
- which brings Indian art, culture, heritage, tradition, etc. to the
Expat Indians in Europe. I also run a Leadership Talk Show titled The Impressive Empress,
where I talk to Impactful Indian Women Leaders about their Inner
Journey. I have always given my family the topmost priority and I find
being an Entrepreneur gives me the best of both worlds - personal &
professional.
I
enjoy cooking, reading about Indian Religion & Philosophy and
collecting tidbits of information related to anything & everything.
As a speaker, I like to talk about all aspects of a woman’s life and
would always focus on positive personal growth.
I
believe that Life is beautiful and bountiful in giving us many
wonderful experiences and leaving us with many valuable lessons, all the
while providing answers to our questions, provided we listen.
My heartfelt thanks to "Team Antarang" for providing this opportunity to share a few aspects of me with you all.
Interview :
What makes you smile the most?
I love old couples walking holding each others’ hands.
What little thing makes you the most grateful to be alive?
I
am grateful for many things in life. I start my day with a small prayer
and thank 3 things or 3 people. This would be different every day. This
gratitude routine has helped me appreciate people and all the things in
life.
On hard days, what motivates you to get up and start your day?
I
am a very religious person and derive inner strength from my Mantra
meditation. On days that are difficult, I push myself to get up to do
my prayer routine.
How do you find strength when you are going through hardships?
I
am quite a positive person and believe that life gives us tough times
so we can grow. But this knowledge actually doesn’t help one much when
faced with hardships. Brooding over the hardship for a while gets me
bored and then I get going with my work.
What family member do you call when you have good news to share?
My husband.
Who inspires you to live your best life?
There are so many role models out there and I like to take good lessons from the people I meet.
When you have to confront someone do you choose to stand strong, or to not say anything at all?
I
don't like confrontations, so I would keep quiet until the other person
has finished his/her point of view and then I would speak my mind. It’s
up to the person to take or leave what I say. When I am thoroughly
convinced of my stand, I would keep reiterating my point of view, as and
when we confront.
What person made you believe in love?
My family and my extended family of aunts and uncles.
Do you believe in fate and that everything happens for a reason?
I
do believe that everything happens for a reason and would like to
rationalise that internally. Of late, I have come to accept whatever
life dishes out for me, which is not easy though. But I am not
fatalistic. I believe we can change our course with our intellect.
What makes you most proud of yourself?
My
patience & perseverance, my commitment to myself & my words, my
affable attitude, my ability to communicate well, good listening skills
- these qualities do not make me feel proud of myself actually, but I
am happy to be blessed with these qualities and skills. These help me
help others.
When in a crisis, do you act calmly, or do you automatically freak out?
I
prefer to stay calm and think of ways to get out of the crisis
situation. Sometimes, I do talk a lot about it or vent it out and this
helps me calm down in a while.
What keeps you up at night?
My commitment to my work or if my presence would help someone in need.
If there was one charity you could donate to, which would you choose?
Educating girl children.
What is the one quality you need in a significant other?
Empathy and a good sense of humor.
On your best days, who do you want standing next to you?
My family
On your hardest days, who do you want standing next to you?
My husband.
What is the one word that perfectly explains who you are?
A pleasant woman
Where do you envision yourself in five years?
I would like to grow my newest venture - bhogya.online
- to help the Expat Indians stay connected to their roots. I would also
be working with Global Mothers, a new initiative that would empower
mothers to make this world a better place.
What is your message to our Antarang women readers?
At
some point in time, please do an introspection to understand who you
truly are and what you are blessed with. That would truly help you
actualize your inner potential and help you lead a life with
contentment.
